Hybrid
techniques include using larger hair grafts for the
top and non-central portion of the crown and smaller
grafts for the frontal hairline and perimeter of the
transplant. Variouls names are used to describe these
techniques, including blend grafting and variagrafting.
These techniques can be difficult to spot as transplanting
techniques, unless with close inspection. Large transplants
are best with patients with curly , white or blond hair.
The
use of double
follicular unit (DFU), a hybrid hair transplant,
works well if you have curly or wavy hair - a reasonable
way to reduce the costs the hair transplant. However, this
approach can be disastrous if you have straight hair,
particularly if your hair color is dark and stands out
against contrasting fair skin tones. Larger grafts procedures
cost less if the surgeon charges by the graft, and the
procedures can be performed without the intense labor
required for more numerous sessions of small grafts.
Lager
hair grafts have the further disadvantage of becoming
more obvious when further hair loss occurs, particularly
when recessions allow the grafts to be viewed from a
different angle. Larger grafts or DFU is more a short
term economic fix than a long term solution. Many surgeons
do not recommend it.
