Home-use Low Level Laser
Therapy Devices and Lasercombs
Advantages and disadvantages
of laser combs
Save money. Hand-held
"laser combs" is the cheapest way to treat
hair loss. They deploy low level laser therapy (LLLT)
or cold laser therapy technology to do the job. The
main let down for the relatively lack of take up on
these devices are the skepticism of doctors, it is not
strongly marketed and the idea of using a "laser"
device without supervision. Read on.
Tha advantages of a hand-held
LLLT sysem are:
- It is much cheaper
than the office-based, clinical systems. In the long
term it is also cheaper than going the way of prescription
drugs and going for hair
replacements systems.
- It actually allows
the laser light to reach the specific areas of the
scalp better than the office systems.
The major disadvantages
are:
- You need discipline
to remember to do it and actually manually do the
treatment yourself.
- It is harder to judge
on your own, whether the treatment is working, and
what alternatives are available.
The most popular hand
held laser combs are the Hairmax laser combs and the
X-5 lasers. We have used the Radiantcore
HRx and it not only works but it is also the smallest,
power-efficient and the lowest cost product in the market.
Results of a study on
laser comb
A study on the use of
the handheld laser comb, 93 of the participants (ages
30 to 60) had an increase in the number of terminal
(thick) hairs. For the group being treated, the average
number of terminal hairs per square centimeter increased
by 19 hairs over a 6-month period.
For the control (placebo)
group over the same period, the average number of hairs
decreased by 10.6 hairs per square centimeter. Therefore
the relative number of hairs increased by 29.4 hairs
per square centimeter.
In both groups, the the
base counts were 125 hairs per square centimeter. This
are considered as thinning scalps as a normal non-balding
head has about 220 hairs per square centimeter. No serious
adverse reaction was reported during the sudy.
