Many manufacturers of natural supplements conduct or fund their own studies. Needless to say, many of these studies are biased, to justify the sale of their own products.

Many products that put claim to treat hair loss (often packaged with other ingredients) are below.

Advecia: It is herbal and reported to be a hair loss vitamin.

Aloe vera: Often recognized as a wonderful natural remedy for many ailments, it is believed that it also helps treat hair loss. It is applied topically.

Dehyroeplandrosterone (DHEA): This has been suggested for hair growth. Howewever, there are many reports suggesting this hormone actually causes hair loss, like streroids.

Evening promise oil: This is also known as gamma-linolenic acid. It is claimed to convert into hormone-like compounds that help to gergulate a bodily functions.

Fava beans: This is an herb that is widely used in Polynesian countries to treat anxiety. It is generally harmless but can cause death with people that carry a rare genetic defect.

L-Arginine: This is a homeopathic remedy that is thought to increase circulation to the scalp.

Lingzhi: Long considered by the Chinese as a royal panacea for many aliments, this flat polypore mushroom is used to treat hair loss, obesity and liver disease.

Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM): This is a white crystalline powder that is reported to be a sulphur-rich hair tonic in its cream form.

Nettle sting root: Its reported effect on dyhydrotestosterone (DHT) levels has made it a treatment for hair loss.

Olive oil: When mixed with coconut and/or mayonnaise, heated and rubbed to the scalp, it is believed to be able to grow hair.

Soy extract: some people believe that this can arrest hair loss.

Tribulus terrestri and Ava Renewale: These Chinese herbs are reported to be able to do many things, including being a cure for hair loss.

Wheatgrass: These are very young version of the common wheat plant that is believed to be able to treat hair loss. Itis a source of vitamins A, B, C and E'sas well as calcium, magnesium, potassium, iro, natural enzymes and chlorophyll.
